magradze
Greetings everyone !
40D's LCD is not working properly. It does show imajes and menu but it developed some kind of a "w hite filter", as if contrast is very low. However, this is not a contrast setting problem. Close look shows that this "white filter" (which covers whole LCD screen including area where shot settings are shown) does twinkle, as in very o ld TV sets. I haven't droped or hit my camera.

Problem comes and goes, but now

PuppyDigs
You might need to replace the LCD. Not too hard of job if you're a DIYS type. Meanwhile you might check the LCD connector. Sometimes they work loose.
Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see. - Robert Hunter
chrisjb
If you plug the 40d into a TV via the video cord that`ll bipass the LCD, but if it does the same then prob maybe elsewhere... ;o)
magradze
Thanks for replies!
Now LCD is working properly, but it will go bad again, as before. I live in country Georgia (one with unfortunate neighborhood with Russia) and Canon services are literally inexistent. So I may have to do fix it myself, if possible.
Chris JB: I connected camera to TV and picture was good. Looking at LCD you can tell that problem is with LCD.

Puppy Face: if you know, could you please, give me a link where I can see instructions on how replace LCD or check connector.
Thanks!
David
