pauloriskas
Well, i can purchase the 500D body and the 40D for the same price. What should i do? Stay quiet with my 300d and wait a couple years or move on, or even buy the 450D for 150 bucks less by the price of 500D/40D ?
benbangerter
How can anyone possibly offer advice to you without knowing the kind of photography you do, what lenses, flashes, etc., you have and contemplate, and what limitations you are experiencing in your photographic endeavors? I think you need to elaborate on your original post with more details (=:^0)!
hawkman
40D is the best APS-C camera Canon makes IMO.
claytontullos
Arash, do you care to back up your statement? Or are you just making a rash decision not based in fact?

I would shoot for the 500d. More mp and video and a better lcd screen.
The 450d has less mp, no video, and less iso capability.
kari v
40D is quite different in use than xxxD bodies. It's very responsive, offers more controls, much faster fps, larger viewfinder (+ actual prism vs mirror), shorter vf blackout, metal body (vs plastic), pc socket, better AF system and extended shutter life.
Image quality is very good and price is more than right at the moment.
50/500D have +5Mp but that's not very important for many people and making use of all that res requires careful work. High ISO performance is pretty much a draw, shooter and skilled post work make much more difference.
Video? Well, that's up to Paulo. Makes zero difference in still photography.
Better LCD, I'll give you that, it'd be nice.
bengt_rehn
450D and 500D are small light weight cameras compared to 40D. This is an advantage for many people, but often overlooked.
