leo_papandreou1
Been using non-Pentax film and P&S cameras exclusively lately, so 2 sunsets from spring I've just gotten around to for pp. K20D + 16-45, HDRevved. A while ago I went out in the yard and found these forget-me-nots. They're very hard to shoot as they're tiny and close to the ground & blow in the wind. Shot handheld (while lying on the ground) with K10D, Tamron Di 90/2.8 macro, SR on, 1/100, f5.6, 400iso.
duane_mills
Superb week so far folks. Here are a few that raelly jumped out for me....

Camus - "Returning home at dusk, Wellington". Terrific colours, stunning silouette, interesting lines.

Peter Zack - "the couple in the old car". Well framed BW with both clean lines and a gritty feel. Perfect exposure. Very nicely done.

Jeremiah - "The photo of your daughter behind the camera". I like it for the same reason I like Nick's shot. Great capture of a special moment.

Justin - "Caney looks far more human than most people" Outstanding capture.

Nick - "Your daughter fishing". What can I say, I'm a sucker for preserving those prescious moments. They grow so quickly. Great capture.

Leo - 2 great reflection shots but I like the second best. The angle draws the eye in more. The "blues" are amazing without being oversaturated.

Everything in the POW looks great this week. I'll try to comment on a few more when I have more time. Here are a few quick shots from last weekend....

throughmyshutter
There are so many great shots this week, as usual. Several standouts for me are:

Nick's deer and "grandpa's boat"
Jeremiah's daughter
Michael's orange flower (I love those, as you will see)
Camus's "Returning home..."

I couldn't decide on just one, or even two. One of these I took this morning and I was please with the way it turned out using my flash in the middle of the yard in the sun.

abe_hollander
Was lucky enough to score some good seats for the Chelsea v. A.C. Milan friendly in Baltimore over the weekend, and caught one of the scoring kicks, right before impact.

Thought the Sigma 70-300 APO would be too dark, but only needed a touch of PP.

Drogba really cocked the hammer in the 7th minute...

bmichel
As always an interesting collection. My favorites:
Bob Marz: Cadillac Mountain with the people in there for scale along with a red sky background
Nick: Grandpa's boat brings back Wisconsin lake memories
Jerimiah: nice candids of a beautiful family
Markus: how do you find all of those interesting places in Zurich? "Land and Freedom" is interesting -- disaffection auf englisch
Robert: Comcast Center neatly reflects the clouds and the other building
Sigmar: nice exposure on the sparklers
Dorus: "Religion ?" is thought-provoking
Morgan: "Stork" is interesting composition; the foreground out of focus keeps it from being a distraction
Duane: "Emily" is a nice candid; she looks very determined
Angela: Orange flower composition; great perspective on the whale
Steve: Purple flowers nicely composed
Rose: nice angle on a perfect rose
mcmanamey
Ok, so I've FINALLY pulled the camera out and I feel like less of a bad mommy. 19 days old, and I actually took pictures on a real camera (as opposed to only using my phone >:-( ). This little guy is one of the biggest reasons I haven't been doing much at all. Before birth, it was just too hard to move (land-whale effect, you know), and for the last 3 weeks it's been stumbling around, trying to figure out having 3 kids, a business, and a home.

He had enough of an awake time, I discovered the changing table isn't a half-bad baby prop. Need to pull out the flash next time - since our bedroom light is a single 60w equivalent CFL bulb. White balance was needed badly, I'm really wishing the FA 50mm was a macro, and I want the shutter speed a lot higher.

K10D, FA 50mm, ISO 800, I think f2.8

mcmanamey
Ok, this week's standouts:
Nick - yup, another vote for Grandpa's boat (the clouds, man. Wow).
Jeremiah - i LOVE the daughter shot. That is the kind of thing we see around here, too. Just too cute. Love it.
Peter - those 2 shots are great. Really. Really love em - and I hope they have the same reaction. Totally unique, and a great great look. Good job!!!
Robert - your first two. Coolness.
OShiva - "religion?" I don't agree about making it B&W, but it might be interesting to see color & B&W side by side. But to stir the mind... you're right.
Camus - Returning home is really cool. I'm curious if that was a set-up portrait, or if it just happened to happen in front of you. Oddly (to me), the wires don't ruin the photo. I typically hate wires in portraits/landscapes, but somehow, these wires really help to make it.
Rose - I think I like your 2nd fishy photo more. I also think the Buddah head there gives it just a funny dreamy quality, which makes me like the fishies fotos.
