Thanks for starting this Javier. Your prior thread inspired me to get out during the lunch hour and shoot. These shots are from Seattle's semi-touristy waterfront and then a bit east on 1st Avenue downtown.

I stayed with the K20D and the DA Ltd 21mm for all of these and would slap an oversize polarizer filter over when necessary.

Michael, I like 'Opening'. It seems to have a sort of surreal look to it--is that due to polarizer, or perhaps the lighting was reflected off other buildings...?

'Below' has sort of an HDR look to it--did you significantly bring up the shadows/reduce contrast somehow?

Javier, how are you liking that K-7 for this purpose? What lens were you shooting with, these are too long for your Sigma 10-20...looks like you were going with the f/8-and-be-there recipe, hyperfocal? The last one seems kind of soft--subjects kind of close for your zone focusing?

Javier, your street photography seems to have a running theme to it. But hey, who am I to judge, I like it. Michael, I will someday make it to Seattle. Your pics are very nice especially Head South and Opening. I have several, all shot within the past week. The first is my favorite. I went into Philly to visit my daughter and we walked to the top of the Ben Franklin Bridge which connects Philly and Camden, NJ. I have never made that trek before and it is unfortunate that it was such a humid evening. But I like the way it came out. It was shot with the Sigma 17-35mm, bracketed at +/- 1.7 and HDR.

Great thread idea and good images so far! Here are a couple from my photowalk last weekend. I'll see if I can't get some more this weekend with my new DA 15mm f/4 Limited.

Nice contributions so far folks and the idea was Michael E's so thanks Michael..
Andrew. Those images are not good examples as I noted. Those I took with my 17-35 F/2.8-4.0 TAMRON lens...This lens is usually tack sharp and becoming one of my favorites. That third shot is not soft, it is out of focus as where many of my K-7 shots...I was relying on AF.C and it resulted in 1/2 the images being out of focus..When doing street, I will go back to manual zone focusing. Atleast that way, they are all pretty much in focus...I will post some better pictures as soon as I take a look at what I have taken.

Javier, I guess I was using soft as a general "not sharp", not accusing the lens--thought it might be missed focus. Had you had better luck with AF.C on previous cameras? I have long had a feeling that some cameras from other makers--like a Nikon D200 for example--might actually work well enough with auto AF points to be at least somewhat effective at snap shooting in good light. I've never felt like Pentax bodies could lock fast enough to just squeeze & shoot. This may be a grass-is-greener scenario though. How does your D700 AF perform if you tried using it like this?

And Robert, that "street in the city" has a nice film-like look to it.

Javier, when did you get that Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4? Did you get it because I've been raving about it? :-)

One thing I've noticed with mine is that if I want perfect focus at 17mm I need to zoom to 35mm, focus, then zoom out (unless I'm focusing really close to my subject).

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the feedback. Opening has a "Dragan" effect that stemmed from a Lightroom preset that I further modified. The effect can be dramatic when the light hits at a certain angle and intensity.

Below is doped up considerably. Lots of fill light, selective saturation, negative clarity, overdose of highlight suppression, shadow reduction via curves, and then serious noise reduction. Lots of fun for me.

Hi folks..
Great stuff so far. Will comment on images tomorrow. I wanted to get a few more posted up before I hit the hay. More K-7 images but these are with my Sigma 10-20mmexif SHOULD be intact...I noticed that Photobucket has been striping the exif off for some reason..

This lady tried to hide, but alas with the short focus distance of this lens, I still captured her...We had a great laugh afterward and was flattered I took her picture :)

Robert C,
Thanks for your kind words. I like the geometry of Head South. Whenever you get around to planning a Seattle/NW trip, please give me a heads up.
Your shot of the Ben Franklin Bridge triggered a memory of a photo essay from a Lenswork magazine issue no. 78 (last year). They had an outstanding portfolio of Michael Penn that featured bridge shots. Are you familiar with his work? Lenswork is a slice of B&W heaven.

I have tried it and it is better than the Pentax for sure, but not enough to make me drop zone focusing. I even have some of the canikon boys in the L.A. club zone focusing now...
