tgpics
Hello,

I have a gap in my equipment. I lack the standard zoom lens. Till now I have been renting 24-70, however I decided to buy my own. But there is one problem that I dont have enough money for Nikon zoom lenses that are so expensive. That is why I want to ask you which lense is the best from Sigma, Tamron or Tokina for Nikon as standard zoom lens?

I will appreciate any answers.
Tautvydas

ShunCheung
Nikon lenses are not always expensive, but the affordable ones are not constant f2.8 zooms. Some options are discussed in this current thread: http://www.photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00Tv1T
Or you must have a constant f2.8?
joshloeser
Sigma 24-70 HSM has turned out to be pretty outstanding, based on the reviews so far. If you're not needing a wide angle, it could be a good bet for you, though it's only a few hundred less than the 17-55mm.

Peter_in_PA
Do you need speed? If not, you might like the Nikon 16-85 with the VR. Need cheaper? The 18-70 is excellent.

What is your budget?

bsd230
If the 24-70 range works for you, then the Sigma 24-70 HSM should be on your list. It is not cheap, but from everything I have read it's a great lens. I have even read reviews where it was excellent on the Canon 5d mkII. If it can handle the high res of the Canon without showing flaws it has to be a pretty good piece of glass.
steve_smith50
I have shot extensively with the 18-70 and 28-105 zooms on our D200. Both are solid performers throughout the range, should be able to find used under US$200.
