patty_h.
Hello!
I took this photo a couple of weeks ago, I really like their expressions but I annoyed at it because its so bright on the left side. What would you guys do to it so it looks better. Thanks.

mgk1966
What kind of software do you use? If it's Lightroom 2.3, you can use the graduated filter to darken the left side. Vignette will do similar. Also, recovery may pull back some detail in the house.

A vertical crop like David's is good, but can you get a workable 4x6 out of it?
pete_harlan1
Patty,

although fixing a problem after the fact sometimes works, this image should have been exposed better with balanced fill light. The black point is cutoff causing loss of detail.
Just a observation for next time.

One possibility now is to mask off the bride and her veil, feather and attempt a curves adjustment. Also, maybe some 81A and/or 81B PP filtering.

betty_lowrey
Honestly, I would crop in tigher and go B&W. There is just so much detail that the energy is being lost.
mcorona

Here's my rather quick edit.
To be honest though, it's kind of a Cliché shot; Which I don't mind. I love Cliché
But it has to be taken correctly instead of trying to fix it later. In this case, the overexposed building shouldn't be in the shot at all.
Here's a couple of links to my own take on this shot.
On this 2nd one I liked it alot better when I got in there.... right under :)
francie_baltazar
here's my quick fix - I agree with Betty B&W would be less distracting... along with a tight crop

betty_lowrey
Eeek on the selective color. That combined with the cliche shot just kind of screams "cheesy and cheap". IMHO.
jonj
I think B&W is the way to go with this one it's a nice image you just need to crop in a bit tighter. Here is my attempt.

alan_bryant1
Another attempt. I don't like the bride's arm as originally shot. Unless someone has very slender arms, they always look giant from that angle. Cropping helps a lot.

simonabunaphotography
just if it is a very important picture for them, if no... to much work and I was just playing (maybe not so much blur in the foreground, you can try with gradient there)

gregory_c
How I do it is add soft focus; filter or software, feather edges to white. Black & white makes it nice also. I also crop to make couple full frame, one more, watch the background, white building is diatracting
