omar_ozenir2
I've realised that 4 or 5 of the 45 focusing points don't turn red anymore when either doing eye-controlled focusing or manually selecting them. Has anyone had a similar problem? Seems like the camera needs to pay a visit to the repairman. Regards, omar
PuppyDigs
Since 1990, I've owned 4 EOS bodies with red blinking AF retangles, including the EOS 3, and none of the retangles stopped working. In fact, this is the first report I have heard of such a failure. Unofrtunately, it sounds like a Canon Service Center is your next stop. Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see. - Robert Hunter
carl smith
You are sure you don't have any custom functions engaged?
omar_ozenir2
No, I'm using the whole set of 45 focusing points since I bought the camera 2 years ago. By the way, these points do autofocus, but just aren't lit.
bob stewart jacksonville
As Carl alludes, there is a CF to go down to 11 points. There is also a CF to select two adjoining focusing points. I beleive when you select the CF for two focusing points, that some of the points on the periphery of the "ring of fire" don't light up.
omar_ozenir2
This has nothing to do with CF's. The problem actually got worse; now a whole line of squares don't light up anymore, in addition to a few others. I took the camera to a service centre, and have been told they would need to take apart the whole camera and check the electronics. And only the labour costs would be around 150 GB pounds! I've decided to continue using the camera with only the central focusing point. And when that becomes inoperable, I don't know further.
