mike w
Hi folks,
I have a nikon PB6 that we use on rare occasions. What is the best way to store it? Closed tight, closed loose, open, if closed tight should a powder or something be applied?
I ask because my wife got it out the other day and the folds were ever so slightly stuck together they are in verry good condition and I'd like to keep them that way.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Mike
jose_angel
Mine is closed but slightly loose to prevent this "stickiness"; I cannot say how old it is, probably from early eighties. It`s still in very good shape. All this time has been inside a shoe box or simply nude into the closet.

joseph_wisniewski
I was taught storing them in an extreme position (fully extended, or fully collapsed) increases the chance of developing a leak when moving to the other extreme position, and the best way to maintain bellows health was to store them in a middle position.

I don't know where I learned this, but it was a very long time ago. For 30+ years I've been storing bellows, view cameras, and folders (when possible) the same way: extended approximately half way. For the Nikon bellows, I cap them front and back. I usually store them on a shelf with limited access, or in boxes that close, to protect them from the occasional poke.
