Hey Rob, if you're in Vacaville and are looking for some landscape photography places then you definitely need to hit up Lake Berryessa. Head up the 505 and get off at the Winters exit. Head west on road 128 and you'll run right into Lake Berryessa. There's many hiking trails that you can take and they provide great views of the lake. If you're looking for farmscape areas then also head north towards Winters. There's almond and walnut orchards gallor in that area. If you head northeast, Woodland offers fields of tomatoes with old farmsteads sprinkled in the area. There are also a couple vineyards spread around the area. Best light for these areas is early morning as the sun comes over the Sierras or also evening right before the sun goes over the Coastal Range. One more place, if you don't mind driving a bit, is the Capay Valley. Head north on the 505 and get off on the Highway 16 exit and just head west. It's an expansive valley and once you get by the large casino the Cache Creek borders the road while it winds through some gorgeous wooded hills. This is a beautiful drive which offers a lot of photo opportunities. Just a couple ideas. Take care, Justin.

I would definitely ask about locations with the local people. Whenever I am traveling I make sure to talk about locations with hotel personnel, shopkeepers, taxi drivers, and anyone else that I make contact with. I am seldom disappointed. They know the area best and you get up to date information.
