steveh552
Does anyone own either of these cameras? I just wanted to get general opnions on what others feel about them. I have the N-55 and so far been happy, but would like to hear what others think.
chuck
Because N65 and N55 have similar ergonomics and similar price points, yet N65 allows you full access to all current Nikon lens capabilities like vibration-reduction and silent-wave drive while N55 deny you those capabilities, I would recommend N65 over N55 in all circumstances. floyd_takeuchi
In addition to the above, I would be concerned that the N55 does not offer full TTL flash metering capability with Nikon Speedlights; the N65 does. I have an N65 as a backup body to an N80. The N65 has been slammed pretty hard by many here, but I feel it does what it was designed to do: serve as an entry-level AE/AF camera with a fairly broad range of features that allows a less experienced photographer to develop a system around the body. I also like the fact that the N65 has a metal lens mount while comparable-model Canons (and the N55) do not.
adam_macneil
I've got the F65 (Canadian version of the N65) I am quite happy with it, but I do have a couple of small complaints with it. It would be nice to have a spot meter, but it is an entry level camera, so its no big deal. However I find the one command dial interface to be somewhat annoying. The only other gripe I have is that there is no cable release available, instead you have to get the optional remote control. Otherwise I have been happy with the camera. hoyin_lee1
The N55 is essentially a simplified N65 with less features and more plastic in the construction. However, both cameras are well-made and fully capable of taking good pictures.
