arthuryeo
Single SB-800 shot thru umbrella does a lot to soften the light and give it that pro look with enough details to dazzle. lex_jenkins
I've shot my SB-800 through the white diffusion disc of a Photoflex 5 'n 1, but it loses a lot of light very quickly. So far hasn't been practical for much more than soft fill flash, or small item lighting. I prefer the effect of bouncing off the white reflector. Solves the color tint problem that can occur when bouncing off residential walls and ceilings, which are seldom pure white.

Two23
As an outdoor shooter, I have a truly HUGE white reflector in the winter. The ground here is covered by snow about six months out of the year. It doubles the power of my lights along with diffusing them. I only needed two X3200 monolights to take the shot below. A white concrete grain elevator can serve the same purpose for me.
Kent in SD

robbie_robertson
I've been bouncing an SB800 and SB600 off umbrellas lately for portraiture, and I like the results I'm getting.

walterh
Off topic:
"Still my favorite tires btw after trying Dunlop, Pirelli and Yokohama."
Michelin: Great winter tires for lots of ice and little snow and temperatures near freezing. For our wet, warm summers in nortwest Germany I prefer other brands. :-) And of course it depends on the car you use.
paradoxbox
Potenza RE-01R's for me :) Nothing quite like 12" wide rubber on the back wheels in summer :)
