michael_elenko
Javier, I really enjoy viewing your film shots. That is definitely a good medium for you. The shot of the woman and her dog is priceless. Just clone out that guy in the background.
I rarely shoot film these days, more for the logistics challenges involved with processing. My Olympus XA is my point and shoot, and I love the sharpness of its lens.
This one was taken last March in Seattle's Pioneer Square old town area.It was taken with Fuji Superia 400, whatever Costco was selling cheap.

And this one was from the little beach park adjacent to the Seattle ferry dock on a foggy afternoon 4 years ago. Taken with Kodak T400 Tmax B&W C-41process film on the XA.

ME

jaophotography
Here's my contrubition. This first one, I have no idea what film I used. I know it was Kodak w/ ISO 400, B&W. I used a Pentax LX with Pentax 50mm F/1.7 probably at 5.6 or so.

jaophotography
The lake was shot on Provia 100F. The shutter speed was somewhere around 5 minutes.
This last picture is why I love Velvia. I shot this in full sun using the sunny 16 rule with Velvia 100F, Pentax LX, probably a Pentax 50mm f/1.7 @ f/11, shutter speed 1/250.
BTW, does anyone know what bush this is?
-Jon

jgredline
@Phyliss, The Canon FD system is pretty good I think. I have all the lenses that I want for my AE-1p. 28f/2.8, 50f/1.8, 100f/2.8 and my latest 135f/3.5. They are dirt cheap on ebay and plentiful. Still, I far prefer my ME SUPER. i love that is is aperture priority unlike the AE-1 that is shutter priority.

@John, that particular image was one of my favs from your portfolio. :)

@Thanks Michael! I think the film works well for me. Maybe because I love it. As far as cloning out the fellow, believe me, if I had those skills, he would have been gone. I really love your first image. What beautiful colors and composition. The second one is very nice and recognized the tri-x right away. My favorite black and white film. Well done. I am still waiting for you to post up some junk... :-) to show that you are human.

@Brendon...good to see ya. Love the third shot. great timing on that one!

@Jon, I have seen that 2 image before and was greatly impressed by it and even more so now. That image is breathtaking! I did not realize that when I saw it the first time it was on film...Bravo!

leo_papandreou1
Jon, it's a Vitis, or wild grape. Can't say what species, there are around 30 in N.A. and they hybridize promiscuously, sometimes producing plants with intermediate characters. Here's a (digital) snapshot of one in the spring. jaophotography
Thanks Leo, but one question; if it is a kind of grape, shouldn't it be a vine? This was a small bush about waist high, and what about those leaves? I guess I should also add that this bush was a planted bush, because I saw it as part of the shrubbery at a hotel in South Georgia.
I'll look it up and see if I can find something similar in a plant book.
-Jon
john_behrends
@ Jon R. that is a type of Mahonia or Oregon grape not Vitis, it is the state flower here in Oregon and there are many varieties. I see it and prune it almost everyday as I'm a professional gardener. :)
leo_papandreou1
Yeah it should be a vine :-) Though the vine can grow to a diameter of several inches and break free of its support. If you don't examine the ground closely to see where it's rooted the plant could be mistaken for a bush. I don't know where you are geographically but the purple-black berries in fall is a pretty distinctive feature of eastern forests. The only other candidate I can think of is the Nannyberry (again, eastern forests) but its leaves are quite different.
Edit: Oh there you go, John Behrends has a positive ID. jaophotography
@ John & Leo: Come to think of it, the bark of the stem did look like grape 'bark.' But I've never seen a grape with those kind of leaves. I am in the south eastern U.S., in fact, that picture was taken at a hotel in south Georgia about 20 miles from the Florida state line. Thanks for your help!
Nick, I like the expression in "Library "Pizza Parlor.""

-Jon
