pamela_allen
I just bought a new Holga from adorama.com. It's the 120N Holgawood Casablanca. I bought some 100 ISO film from a nearby photo store where I live (they didn't have any higher ISO in stock at the time) and I'm wondering if I should use my removable flash for those days that have less sunshine and more clouds.
The flash I have is an old Vivitar Automatic 200 (exactly like this one):
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2rc4j12&s=5
My question is, can I just put on my HOLGA and start snapping? Because when I used the flash on my Minolta X-370, the camera wouldn't detect it and the flash wouldn't go off. It had something to do with my Minolta (or so I think) because the flash works fine. The test buttons works and everything.
What is it that I need to do?
henryp
Your Holga has a plain-vanilla flash shoe and no internal electronics the flash could compromise. You should have no trouble using your Vivitar with the Holga.

Henry Posner
B&H Photo-Video
Henry Posner B&H Photo-Video
jakegagne
Henry is right; I use a Vivitar Auto 202 on my Holga with no problems.
ronnie_pettit2
i have also used a vivitar 283 on my holga. i was doing a portrait session for some older ladies when my 35mm pooped out, probabbly due to a weak battery...so rather than panic i picked up the holga and made some awesome shots that looked great as long as they were not enlarged toooo much.
