CLE rangefinder alignment

Recommended Posts

Hi, my CLE seems slightly misaligned, both vertically (which I gather

is mostly a viewfinder hinderance) and horizontally (I have tried

focusing on as many things as I could find that were obviously one or

more miles away to check this). I am specifically wondering if anyone

has any recommendations for experienced/reliable places to have the

camera adjusted. I live in Minneapolis, but there's only a couple

choices for cmaera repair locally.

I had calibrated my Minolta CLE once. The viefinder alignment was out when i set my lense focusing at infinity. For calibration you need to open up a small black cap at the top of the camera. The cap is easy to open, with little strength used, you can lever it off with a sharp pen knife without scratching the top. Next you see 2 small screws hidden inside. One serves as the vertical while the other serves as the horizontal alignment. Insert in a small screw drive to adjust it slowly and checking it again with the lense focusing at infinity. Lock on to some distance subjects that is far enough to test for infinity. Eg next block buildings about few kilometres away.

It took me a lot of guts to repair it. wish u luck.

I had the same problem about 4 years ago after my CLE got banged around (slightly) while up in Quebec City. I had it realigned by Don Goldberg at D.A.G. Camera Repair, 2128 Vintage Drive, Oregon, WI 53575, tel. 608 835-3342. I don't remember what I paid, but my CLE hasn't gone out of alignment since. Good luck
