brian_oden
Yesterday while shooting a wedding, my 24-70 2.8 was firing away perfectly. I went to zoom and it would not zoom in past about 48 nor would it zoom out past about 35. The focus still works and it is as sharp as ever but I dont know what would cause this or what to do as the first steps to fix it. Has anyone else had an experience like this. Thanks
tomwatt
Never. Any sign of debris, etc. on the barrel where it extends/retracts?
Been in any environments where liquid or other gunky stuff might have gotten on it?
zml
First step to fix it? Send to to Canon for repair. There can be many reasons for the malfunction but some sort of mechanical impact in the past is very likely.
www.photo.netphotoslan
I would take a look at the camera BODY. What are you shooting? Battery? Lighting? It's weird that a lens would act up in the middle of a shoot - bodies are another matter. Not much to fail on a lens, camera bodies can fail on a moment's notice. Glass is golden, bodies are lead. Hope that it works out for you.

chengxian_zhou
It is loose of the collars in front of the barrel. It caused zooming jam. It needs professional person to repair it.
