frankspain2
Hello photographers..If you have pictures that were taken with a 70-200mm f/2.8L IS in your portfolio, I will like to view them. I am trying to have an idea of what this lens is capable of. Please and thank you.
images_in_light_north_west
It is capable of all most anything from Landscape to portrait see this a very versatile lens and the f4 although not as good for portrait is even sharper see this

philfx
the L F4(not IS) is much more compact and lighter than the 2.8 IS. I can say sharper also. I use both. for travel I pack the f4
kari v
If weight is a consideration 70-200/4 IS 760g vs 70-200/2.8 IS 1470g... that is very heavy to carry around.
patricklavoie
probably the best all - you - can - do lens on the market for a canon.

The other one would be to also get a 24-70 2.8 and your set!

I dotn have a images taken with close to me..but heres one take with a 24-70..same result is to be expect with the 70-200 IS

ISO 100 / F11 / 70mm

jeff_delisio
A search on this site will reveal that this is an astounding lens (you can factor in weight and cost as you wish). A search on Flickr will reveal several hundred photos for you to look at - besides the obvious ones of the camera itself you will see landscape, portraits, action... Tim_Lookingbill
Now if we only knew how much was processing over what the lens produced straight out of the camera. That's the only way to know how much work that lens will present to the photographer after the shoot. If the shots posted here are straight out of the camera, no sharpening or retouching, then this is truly the best results I've ever seen from a lens.

100% crops would also tell a more truthful story as well.
tim_price2
All 4 of the Canon 70-200's are great lenses, the only real differentiator is the weight, max aperture, and IS.
The 2.8IS is heavier than the others, but it can do some things the others can't because of the 2.8 aperture and IS.
It's great for: portraits, landscapes, zoos on a crop body, indoor performances and events, macro with an extension tube, indoor sports, and outdoor sports day OR NIGHT (usually for the nearer action) http://www.goprices.net/favorites/images/IMG_8863_fin.jpg

It's hard to do the 2.8IS justice with my skills, but the first 6 of these are shot with it:
http://www.goprices.net/kim
And all of these but the first:
http://www.goprices.net/dance2008
