larrydressler
Picked up this little beauty for a song. I ran a short roll of Tri-X through her just to check the functions. and all is good.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/jokerphotography/sets/72157616552691940/

Rob_the_waste
Nice and crisp. What lens is on it?
JDMvW
Nice, Thanks. Another illustration of the wonderful world of Leica take offs.

I feel like I'm triangulating in on you with my FED-2 and FED 4. What does your FED-3 look like? Now that I think on it, I don't remember what it looks like.

(Industar 26m on the 2, I-61 on the 4)

JDMvW
Thanks. I don't think I had seen it before. The later FED models (to judge from your 3 and my 4) are really quite good shooters, but don't seem to attract a lot of collector attention, perhaps since they no longer LOOK like a Leica, even though they use LTM lenses.
tony_lockerbie
Just as an aside, I recently picked up a Fed 2 and Fed 3, the 3 is a bit easier to use, but the 2 seems much better built. Anyone else found this?
User_4525289
Fed2 is the AK47 of the Soviet Photo Industry. I will get one soon. Fed3 is a clunker. Surprisingly it works every time I press the button. It sounds like I really make a shot with a pistol with a silencer. I-61 is the sharp lenses, for something which costs 10 bucks it does a great job. Actually they are one of the sharpest budget lenses ever made. If someone is going to argue do not take a Summi as an example.
rogerwb
Fed 2 has a longer rf base. My Fed 3 is as quiet as my real Leica M3. It has an adjustable shutter brake on it which softens the clunk of the earlier Feds.
subbarayan_prasanna
I learned to make pictures on a Fed 2 in the 1960s. Compact and efficient. I now have Feds 3,4 & 5. I think they made the 4 and 5 larger to accommodate the meter [built-in, not coupled]. But I wonder why they enlarged the shell of the Fed 3. The Fed 4 is better finished than the others, which I got free as attached to a lens I-61 that I bought for BP 0.99 ! I got lucky too, to get a Fed 3 with the Moscow Olympics logo imprinted on it. Feds 3,4,5 are quieter than the Fed 2 and the Zorkis. I think they should have continued the series. Their modernization efforts simply did not work out to produce any better cameras, especially, as they copied the cheaper Japanese cameras. KP may have more insights into this. Larry, the Mo-bike pictue is superb! Regards, sp
subbarayan_prasanna
A late model of the Fed 2, sometimes called the E-type also is similar to the Fed 3, [in looks] except a knob and speed dial. sp.
larrydressler
All I know is that I like it it is real sharp today I am going to take her out if it stops raining with a roll of Plus-X and also take the f2 from the fed 5b with me and see how it works I don't like the feel of the 5 as much as I do the 3.
the celt 2
I love my fed-2. It's quiet, and rarely gets noticed. And best of all, it's blue! One day I'll find the rest of the colors.
