asimrazakhan
I'm not sure if I recall correctly, so I thought I'd ask...

Does the black painted Leica MP come in two different types of leathers?

I've seen one with a grainy/bumpy type leather thats a bit more glossy than the other one. Here's a link to a picture on a Japanese website:
http://kazuyank.plala.jp/archives/category/31102_mp072bp.php

This other one is very fine grained and very matte/dull... it looks kind of like black colored sand paper. An example of it is found if you search for the black MP on bhphotovideo.com. here is the link:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/277978-USA/Leica_10302_MP_72_Black_Body.html

rick_donnelly
MP's under the a la carte program can be ordered with many different leather textures and colors. Check out their a la carte website.
john_gleason1
In addition, the a la carte program allows you to order a black chrome MP, if that's interesting to you.
Bill Blackwell Images
"Does the black painted Leica MP come in two different types of leathers?"

No - as Rick points out, not unless you order through the a-la-carte program (then there are several options). The standard body covering has always reminded me of the black non-slip strip in my bath tub.
“When you come to a fork in the road, take it ...” – Yogi Berra
peter_n1664876959
The standard MP comes with a particularly slippery leatherette (not leather) covering that is just really awful. Many users replace it with a Griptac cover from cameraleather in Vermont (no connection). Griptac is a 3M material that was initially used as a non-stick handle for golf clubs. It is a bit industrial looking but it works extremely well.
35mmdelux
My MP has the standard covering and if I ever decide to change it I'll go with the same leather covering of the Titan model.
john sypal
If you click on "Show Continue" (in small print near the bottom) you can see the Aki-ashi ordered leather replacement.
http://kazuyank.plala.jp/archives/date/2006/04/28/213000.php#comments

This gentleman's blog article is about how he installed the leather himself. I've used Aki-ashi leathers on three polaroid SX-70s and one Olympus OM-1. Great quality and very easy to apply.

alun
Other limited edition MPs -- the LHSA ones, the anthracite one for the Japanese market, to name just two -- have been done with traditional vulcanite coverings, though.
