david_leibowitz1
I will be in New York for part of this week. Are there good dealers in Manhattan, especially for used Leica gear.
Thanks very much,
David
Rich B NYC
When I used Leicas, I bought exclusively from Tamarkin. Kurland and Photo Village would also be good options.
julio_m
Tamarkin closed his Manhattan store long ago.
After trying them all over many years, I still feel Ken Hansen remains the best in the business: in terms of quality, price - and honesty. While quality and honesty are subjective terms, there is a simple reason for Ken's lower prices: he works now out of his Manhattan 72nd street apartment, thus eliminating the overhead of a retail store.
Ken Hansen: 212 879 3263 Cell 917 345 5229 Email KHPNY19aol.com
I repeat, you can take Ken's word to the bank.
ruaidhr__edge
I think that Fotocare is by a wide margin the best photographic store in New York: www.fotocare.com. They are a Leica dealer and usually have used gear. However, they are a full service store for professionals, so don't expect a Leica boutique operation.
julio_m
I forgot to specify that Ken Hansen is a Leica dealer, also with a wide stock of used-like new Leica camera and lenses.

derek_stanton2
David — Go to PhotoVillage. Seriously. It IS a Leica boutique. With other stuff, as well.

Rich B NYC
"Tamarkin closed his Manhattan store long ago"
I guess I've been away from Leica ownership longer than I thought. I know that Craig and Eric left Tamarkin, but I didn't know that they had closed the NYC location.
Photo Village would now be my choice if I was still a Leica owner.
vic_.
Craig went to Kurland, and he's great to deal with, a perfect gentleman.
