paul_b._davis1
Mario: I bought a used 5D since I don't have the cash for a brand new MKII. I was really concerned that I was going to regret not saving for the MKII, but after seeing the first shots from my 5D, I've forgotten all about upgrading.

I've not used the MKII, but I'm sure that it's a great body, as well. You should be in good shape after getting either one, especially since your lens collection is already respectable.

-Paul B. philip_wilson
While not a 40D user I suspect that the 50mm F1.4 will bring immediate results (it is much cheaper than the F1.2). My suggestion would be to get the 5DII and an 85 F1.8 as the best price / results compromise. The 85mm F1.2 is a great lens (I only have the onld FD verison) but the new 85 F1.8 is very close in performance. Thus a cheap upgrade is the 50mm F1.4 for your 40D but if you can the 5DII and 85 F1.8 is a great upgrade. Try both the 85 F1.2 and F1.8 on a full frame body and see what you think.
leonardlow
You have a pretty good collection of lenses, with enough versatility to do good wedding work.
So if you have the cash, I'd go for the 5DmkII. I currently use one, coupled with a 50mm f/1.4, and it's just fantastic. :)
With the 5D, you would be able to pull off beautiful, unobtrusive (non-flash) available light work indoors for wedding ceremonies thanks to the terrific high-ISO performance of the full-frame sensor; and coupled with your 24-70 f/2.8 it would be terrific for all kinds of wedding shots: wide group shots or close-in detail shots and intimate portraits. Bring the 40D as well, with the 50mm f/1.8 attached, for redundancy and additional flexibility.
