Stock-Photos
B&H is your best choice in my opinion. They are one of the most respected photography equipment retailers. All of my transactions with them have been flawless. I've written more about them here:
Canon Lens Reviews
Scroll down, once there, for my camera dealer "buyer beware" info.

tomwatt
I would add Calumet Photo to the list. Not everyone's favorite, I know, but I got started going to them while I was in school, and the habit has borne out well. They are usually within a dollar or two of B&H and Adorama, and always give me good service (as do B&H and Adorma).
Just a thought.
nyphotopro
I buy from Amazon.com, but only when the item for sale says "this item sold and shipped from Amazon.com." That's because there are a lot of third party resellers who also sell on Amazon. I like Amazon's prices, shipping charges (usually free shipping) and their customer service.
JDMvW
On Amazon, they do not do well in making sure some of the "associated" vendors are what they claim to be, so pay attention to Matt's warning. At the very least look carefully at the vendor and feedback there, since so far as I can see, they are not much better than eBay in terms of policing their "associates".
derrickdehaan
I have had some pretty bad packaging from Amazon. I bought a 50-500mm lens that arrived in it original box, inside of a box 5 times that size. Not much else in there, so the lens was beating around in there all the way to Montana. Nothing wrong with the lens, but it did raise an eyebrow. FWIW, I have bought many times from Amozon w/out problem. I currently use B&H almost exclusively.
Derrick

c jensen
Echo others above: BH, Adorama, Amazon (if really shipped by Amazon). If these I like BH the best as they tend to take the most care in thoroughly packing and protecting items.
evphotography
As mentioned above B&H or Adorama are fine. But another great place probably some don't know about is Canoga Camera out of California. One thing I like about them is customer service. Something about dealing with companies from East Coast, not most friendly or courteous people I have ever dealt with at times. But at the Canoga camera store the people are so nice, honest, friendly and helpful, hole different attitude and usually their prices are about the same as B&H or Adorama. I will always deal with Canoga camera if prices are within few dollars of the same as Adorama or B&H. Really need to call them at Canoga and you will see what I mean.
Marvin
If there is a Costco nearby then that's a good place. They give you a 90 day unlimited return policy. You can return it if you don't like it.
http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11318378&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=&lang=en-US
jpglive
Last time I bought something I got it from the local camera shop - call me old fashioned... but it was slightly more than on amazon or newegg or B&H - but it keeps the local place in business.
If I didn't have a local shop I would go with amazon - but only with the sold and shipped from amazon listing, or B & H. I'd check the price on newegg as wel - but thats really about it.
If your local Circuit City has any new in box - not display models - then you could check there - they are 30% off around here.
