eleven
Thank you in advance. I use a Nikon F90X (N90s) with an SB-26 Speedlight. I like to shoot in Apreture Priority at f/2.8 or f/3.5. I have the Speedlight set to Normal TTL. I've just noticed that the system wants to set the shutter speed at 1/60. I am shooting portrait type images in brightly shaded mid-daylight. The ambient light is significant. Will the flash still fire, knowing that with a combination of bright ambient light, a wide open apreture, and a slow 1/60 sync speed? All I am looking for is to cut a little shadwoing out. Will all of this light wash out ( overexpose ) and image on transperancy film? I know I have a little more lattitude with print film, but am concerned with the amount of actual light, including fill flash that the system will record. Any comments appreciated. craig_bridge
If 1/60 @ f/2.8-3.5 is an over exposure without the flash, you have an over exposure. If it isn't an over exposure, the flash will act as fill assuming the subject is far enough away from the flash for the flash zoom position (check the distance scale on the back of the flash). That said, some people think the SB strobes add a little too much fill and dial in -.7 to -1.3 flash compensation.
