SB600 stopped working

I have not used it for a few months. I tried few days ago but it won't turn on. Tried 2 sets of batteries. Any thoughts on what might be wrong with it would be appreciated.<br>

<p>Well, starting with the easy stuff, have you cleaned the contacts and made sure that they are making full contact with the batteries? Is the spring mechanism at the bottom of the compartment still in good working order? Batteries from different packs?</p>

<p>Leaving batteries in the unit is not a great idea, but even I don't take my own advice on that. How old is the unit and how much has it been used?</p>

<p>You'll find TONS of complaints about the SB-600 if you do some research, hope it's under warranty.</p>

If you left it on, maybe that is what happened. I sent mine in, still waiting for an answer (Nikon seems a little backed up on repairs I think they were processing what they received on 1/7 yesterday).</p>

I use it rarely, bought it in 2005. The batteries were from 2 different brands. I will try cleaning the contacts and make sure there is full contact, but from what I could tell at first glance there was good contact. </p>

<p>I would suggest eliminate the trivial errors first. Buy another brand new sets of AA batteries and try it one more time. Make sure that you insert the batteries correctly; please see the attached image.</p><div></div>
