frank_philcox2
I want to get a Fuji 6x9 rangefinder to shoot transparencies and B&W print film. I develop my own B&W in my bathroom but am I going to encounter problems printing this big neg in rental darkrooms (as oppposed to a 6x7 neg for example)? If so I might bag this idea and get an old frumpy Pentax 67.
q.g._de_bakker
Frank,

Why not find an enlarger that takes 6x9 (a Durst M805 is a very good one), and print your own at home? Can also be done in the bathroom.
These things are extremely cheap nowadays. It's not uncommon to get one for free even, if you help people get rid of theirs and pick it up.

gary_gumanow
How long is the neck on that enlarger? I would love to move up from 6x6 to 6x9 but my ceiling is not very high. I can't fit a Beseler 23C in my darkroom b/c the neck is 44 inches. Any clue?

G.
mike_earussi1
Frank, all good rental darkrooms should have large format enlargers which are more than big enough to print 6x9.
spanky
Don't forget many enlargers enable one to drop the basedboard down for larger prints.
User_503771
Or you could change the focal length of the lens. And/or put the enlarger on the floor or on something lower than the counter top. Maybe on a couple of hardware store step stools?
david richhart
If I remember correctly, the Besseler 23c will flip sideways for horizontal printing...
dirk_dom1
Rental darkrooms certainly have 6 x 9 capability.
I think you should get a 6 x 9 enlarger and continue working at home. As said before in this forum, you can pick them up cheap, thanks to the digital revolution.
I did lots of 60 centimetre prints (24'') putting my enlarger backwards on its board and printing on the floor.

Bye,

Dirk.
