elliotspirrett
Hi there,
I recently bought a K mount lens (Sigma 80-200mm - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=260331450022) and wondered what I'd need to do to make it fit my EOS 1000FN/600.
I've read a few articles but they seem a little contradictory at best.
Cheers
Elliot.
bobatkins
You probably can't attach it to a full frame SLR or DSLR without doing some surgery on it. You can find adapters on eBay, but the aperture coupling level on the back of the K-mount will most likely interfere with mounting and/or other camera operation and will need to be removed or sawn off.
You can usually mount unmodified Pentax K lenses on EOS DSLRs which are compatible with EF-S series lenses, using the K-mount to EOS adapters.
See http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/eosfaq/manual_focus_EOS.html for a few more comments.
elliotspirrett
So are we saying in a word, no?
If so, I have a lovely Sigma 80-200mm lens for sale to fit a Pentax K mount!

samoksner
considering the extravagant price you paid for the lens.. (all 2 pounds + shipping) I'd say that taking it apart for the fun of it is probably the best thing you could do with it now :)
bobatkins
We're saying no "as is", but yes if you hack off the aperture coupling lever.
tibz
I was entirely serious about the duct tape comment. If you can hold it on you'll have a lens without metering or autofocus, just like you would have by actually mounting it on. I've held 50mm lenses backwards to my digital for macro photography. It's interesting.
elliotspirrett
Cool these were all really useful :) Cheers
I keep making posts complaining that my cheap-ass buys aren't going to work, but I'm more worried about it buggering my camera... So I bought a P30 for £15 instead.
I shouldn't be allowed near eBay officially.
How did the photos turn out Nicholas? It sounds like a fun idea...
elliotspirrett
Oh and how bad an idea/tricky is hacking off the coupling lever, for future reference?
