shaloot
...with a digicam since I can't afford a true macro lens! And that too its a Samsung digicam, but hey atleast same family right? Anyways I have always wanted to get into macro photography and love that this little digicam has great macro capabilities (IMO)... just like any other digicam. But it is true how it opens you up to a completely different point of view and thinking! All the shots were sharpned 1 level, 1 level of grain and some with B&W conversion and some with selective B&W using Picasa. ISO was 200 (some lower I think) with most of it spot metered. They were all handheld using the 2 sec timer to try and mimize shake. I posted the small size link since I'll pasting quite a few. If one catches your eye, click on it! Thanks for checking out the camera porn!
(I also didn't realize how filthy my k10d is! At least it's not white!)
<a title="Green equals lazy by Shaloot, on Flickr" href=" title="Green equals lazy by Shaloot, on Flickr">
<a title="OK let's go! by Shaloot, on Flickr" href=" title="OK let's go! by Shaloot, on Flickr">
<a title="Green button of genius! by Shaloot, on Flickr" href=" title="Green button of genius! by Shaloot, on Flickr">
<a title="How close can you go? by Shaloot, on Flickr" href=" title="How close can you go? by Shaloot, on Flickr">
<a title="Wall-E? r.t. dowling
Great shots!

I've done some pretty cool macro stuff with my Panasonic FX-01. It's great for getting close-ups of my cats, and unlike the DSLR it doesn't scare them because there is no loud shutter and mirror slap. ;-)

miserere_mei
P&S cameras, with their tiny sensors, are great for macro as you get a much larger DoF, which is always an issue with APS-C or 35mm. I like the shot of the hotshoe; looks like a launching pad :-)
jgredline
I love doing Macro with my Fuji P&S as well...They work great. My favorite it the K1000 dial ...Love it. That would make a cool avatar.
musings
Very nice work, Hippie Somanna! I am impressed with the clarity considering that these were handheld. I need to try some more macro over Christmas...I forget how much fun it can be.
jgredline
Jeff, The K1000 is on its way to you. Start looking for a guy to send it to after you have taken your two exposers.
I loaded it with T-max 400 black and white film :)

I will have the film developed by http://www.colorservices.com/index.asp? unless there is a member who wants to do it :)

miserere_mei
Hey, when did this macro thread get hijacked into a travelling camera thread??? I want in too!!!!!!
I think it would be cool if we all used the same lens, that way we could really compare each person's style.
jgredline
Mis, your right. Lets stay with the same lens and yes mis, Your IN...That lens is a little sticky, but since it is all manual, it works great. The images come out great.. We need to get a list and order together. By the way Som..Sorry for the Hi Jack. ;-)
nealcurrie
This reminds me of a set of shots I did of an old Mamiya TLR. Simply posting to share - not trying advertise my site (there's nothing for sale there anyway).
http://nealcurrie.com/g-mamiyaflex.html
snik75
Hi Somanna,

That's a fun set. I like the K1000 dial best as well. But let me say, you don't need an "expensive" macro lens to do macro with your K10D. This is a shot (sticking with the camera porn theme) using a Mamiya 58mm lens which is not a macro, on about 30mm of extension. My K mount extension tubes cost about $15 off ebay (all manual) and this helicoid M42 extender was $2 at my local camera store in the discount bin. The world of macro for a few bucks using a great 50mm lens you already own.

musings
Mis, glad to see you're IN! I may cite artistic license, however, and put my Sigma fisheye on the camera instead of the 50mm for at least one shot...
hagar
I'd love to be in too.. we should post a thread to see who wants in and try to move it around in a logical fashion

susan_dinion
Hi
Although I am enjoying reading the adventures of the traveling camera, I have a macro question.
My new camera is a 200D. It has a macro setting. How the heck does this work? I understood the concept with my P&S, but not when I have a non-macro lens on a DSLR.
The manual has one sentence regarding this setting "Lets you take vibrant pictures...at short distances." no duh, but is it limited to a macro lens?
I do love the P&S macro setting, though. :)
Totally off topic: The other thing I love my P&S for is motorcycle rides. I really just point & shoot, and I don't see how the photos turn out until we stop someplace. (the mini-movie setting is fun for rides, too)
