SB-800 Flash (damaged by "defective batteries"?)

<p>I do believe after all that I would use a well known like EverReady or Duracell, the ones that have the :we will repair or replace whatever they mess up" warranty, or whatever Nikon suggests at least for a while.<br /> I use NiMH of different brands in my SB-800 and the lesser ones to, the flashes recycle faster with them, if that don't burn up the flashes I don't know why standard batteries would.<br /> Either way I believe I would keep every set I ran through it for a while, just for kicks and giggles.</p>

<p>You've got that right Mike. If it smokes up again I'll ship the whole works including batteries back to Nikon - seems improbable, however, that the problem would re-occur since no one else appears to have had the same problem.</p>

<p>I'm running Duracells in mine. Never a problem.</p>

<p>And again, let me say that I'm highly skeptical that this was a battery problem. I still think Nikon screwed-the-pooch on their initial diagnosis.</p>

<p>Tony, I don't believe that your flash was ever damaged by batteries in the first place. NiMH rechargables should work fine in it or Alkalines should also.</p>
