steve_sheppard
Below is a picture of my Braun Paxette IIM with its Staeble-Kata 45mm f2.8 lens. Who can spot the error? (no prizes!)<div></div>
bueh
The upper aperture scale is incorrectly labeled!<div></div>
steve_sheppard
Right answer, of course. I've added a picture (borrowed from an eBay listing) below of how the scales should be arranged. I'm not sure you can blame the poor old Staeble-Kata for your picture. There's not many lenses that like shooting directly into the sun!<div></div>
chuck_foreman1
I saw it amlost right away. Interesting that it passed quality control.. or is this some kind of fake? BTW where is this picture taken.. ? I think I recognize the door symbol as a local Steak house!
bueh
Yepp, Braun cameras are the Holgas of German camera production -- I have several Paxettes (from the Super I to III and the Reflex) and all have issues and rather disappointing workmanship. The Kata lens is really that bad, if I recall correctly the sun was not even inside the frame and I was using a hood. My lens is pretty soft and I guess it is hard to find a coated triplet as bad as this one. But the Paxettes sure are cute cameras, so all is forgiven! And sometimes they snap nice pictures, too.<div></div>
steve_sheppard
Definitely not "fake", and not so much poor quality control as none at all, I'd guess. I wonder how many more are out there. It would be nice if the error made it super-valuable like a postage stamp with the perforations missing! The trouble is, if you don't use the thing regularly, you have to keep peering up the spout to remind yourself which scale is the right one. Still they are neat little cameras, not really that badly made, and the lenses did improve over the years.
chuck_foreman1
Steve, Again where was/were these photos taken? You've now posted what appears to be a Metro station or a U-Bahn Station. Where was this and the other photo (in restaurant) taken?
bueh
Around Westendstation in Ffm, Germany.
chuck_foreman1
Bueh, Oh The photos are from you.. I get it! Sorry for the misunderstanding. I guess the Block (steak) House is a kind of chain resturaunt... They are in Duesseldorf too... Thanks for the reply!!
pensacolaphoto
The 50/2 Luxon seems to be a better lens than the 45mm 2.8.
alanyahnke
<p>Here's a small set that I've taken with my Staeble-Kata. They get sharper as I get more use to the camera and lens if you watch the "slideshow". </p> <p>http://www.flickr.com/photos/21981741@N02/sets/72157622652314105/</p>
