scott_ferris
Hi Leo, Laptop or desktop? Try ifixit.com they have very detailed step by step instructions for lots of mac upgrades. Take care, Scott.
iangriffiths
G5 laptop, oh I wish! ;-) Google is your friend for this as there are plenty of sites out there that help with upgrades. Of course, you could always add another disk so that you won't lose the current 160GB. Alternatively, if it's just storage requirements you need for photos, docs, etc, then I use a FireWire 800 (1394b) external drive. Damn quick and more convenient as I can also plug it into my PowerBook to take on demos and stuff. Cheers Ian
patricklavoie
1_open the side panel. 2_add the other HD 4_close the side panel. 5_format the new drive with disk utility. 2min if your not comfortable : )
richsimmons
You shoud have room to add three more drives if you want. Just follow Patrick's guidelines. It really is that simple.
scott_ferris
I'm sorry I was being stupid asking if it was a laptop. Doh! I use OWC for almost all my upgrades, highly recommend them. Take care, Scott.
sknowles
You don't say if the drive is your primary or secondary drive. If the latter, it's 3-5 minutes, mostly taking the machine apart. But it's all plug and play and your G5 will walk you through the steps after saying, "Wow, a new HD. What would you like to do with it?" If it's the primary, there's more to it since it has all the OS and software. There you should read the manual or get help.
