richard_beisigl
Hello all, As some of you know, I bought a SB-600 flash last saturday night, and would like to find a good book on how to use this great flash. Also, can this flash be used with Nikons CLS system? Thank you again for your help.
gary payne
Try the " NIKON Creative Lighting System Digital Field Guide", by J. Dennis Thomas. I found it very helpful and easier to understand that the manual. Good Luck

frank_skomial
Thanks for the link to Russ' blog. Reading that will certainly reduce number of questions that appear on photo.net. He explains a bit when to use iTTL/BL, and when iTTL, as appropriate, even if that is contrary to some recent suggestions from most frequent posters on photo.net. Ross provides best advice and example pictures. All of that is good for readers. One could argue that using a -1.7 EV compensation to the iTTL/BL setting , is really doing his own light balancing, with the variable and unpredictable element that the iTTL/BL determins. The iTTL/BL with own preference on amount of compensation is the easy way to get good pictures/or pictures that you like, most of the time. For your own balancing one could get more predictable/repeteable results if both outside and inside lights were determined, and the automated - thus less predictable element of the iTTL/BL mode could be reduced or eliminated. But hen we will be going back to historical ages of photography that is good for experienced photographers... so better use the Nikon iTTL/BL and iTTL when appropriate, as Russ explains. Russ is afterall an electrical engineer, and his information is based on his experience, and seems he is not influenced by or does not get his education from K.R, or M.P.
