christian_balslev_van_rand
Hello, maybe a silly question. What would happen if I use an EFS mount lens on a 1,3x crop body? I recently acquired a 1D Mark II N, and was considering getting a Sigma circular fisheye lens. I am specifically looking for the effect of a circular fisheye lens. Would te image just be a little bit smaller than the actual sensor size, or what?
mendel_leisk
I'd resist the urge: the first thing you might experience is the back of the lens hitting something: either the focussing screen (as you mount the lens), or the mirror, as it swings out of the way while you take the picture. stillbound
you can use the tokina 10-17 on full frames and get a circular look at 10mm while getting a rectilinear look as you zoom out... with the 1.3 it would be a little different but it would still give the greatest flexibility without damaging your camera JC
chrisjb
Just to clarify, The Sigma is not an efs mount lens, only canon make efs. the lens will mount ok but has a smaller inner circl, so I would suspect a smaller more circular image, I don`t know the lens you want but many fisheyes are FF :)
chrisjb
BTW a fisheye for FF wil give less fishy (round)look on x1.3 :)
medina photography cherry
I used t own a 1D MK II and used the Canon 15 mm 2.8 fisheye on it- it did give you some distortion- like a fisheyebut it was cropped. go to pbase.com and click on search. type in sigma fisheye and once you get images up start looking at them and you will find your body lens combo.
