jimwww
I have a D100 right now and if I add a D200 or a D300 later will the batteries all match inside the grips.. etc Any compatibility issues. Is this a good way to upgrade by adding camera bodies this way - I know I don't want a d80 or something that does not accept Compact Flash. thanks in advance.. ShunCheung
I happen to have all three cameras. They all use the same type of memory cards. The EN-EL3e battery for the D200 and D300 can be used inside the D100, but the original battery EN-EL3 cannot be used on the newer cameras. All three have their individual vertical grips that are not interchangable. The D200 and D300 use iTTL flashes vs. D-TTL for the D100. Lenses care completely interchangable. The D200 and D300 can meter with old manual-focus AI/AI-S lenses that have no CPU.
hans_janssen
Non Nikon EL3e's will work on the D100/200 but not on the D300.
ShunCheung
Hans, I am afraid that you are making too general a comment on generic EN-EL3e batteries. There are different manufacturers and some are better than others. Some of them barely work at all on any Nikon DSLR.
john_lai3
My Lenmar EN-EL3e battery which I bought for my D200 worked flawlessly on my friend's D300.
Peter_in_PA
"I know I don't want a d80 or something that does not accept Compact Flash." Memory is cheap. Don't let this be a deciding factor in what you choose. There is a possible advantage to having separate memory for separate cameras, too. You'll never wonder which one you shot which on.
