adrian_leach
Hi, Can anyone please clarify if the 1ds mkIII has an actuation counter or some other method of verifying the numberof shots taken. I have trolled the news groups but everything is pretty much for the other 1d or 1ds systems. I sent my camera in for a clean, and my file numbers now differ by some 7000 ! Have played with tools such as exiftool but have not been able to get any sensible information about this fromthe files. Thanks in Advance.adrian
zml
No, the 1Ds3 does not have a user-accessible actuation counter. The EXIF-based actuation readers don’t work either (I’m not even sure that the EXIF method ever worked on any camera.)
j_smith6
You can check the counter of EOS 40D only using some software. If you want to check your counter you need to send your camera to canon service and they will check it for you for free (but I guess they'd be surprised that someone sent a EOS 1D Mark III only to check the counter :) Nikon cameras have information about it in EXIF data but unfortunately you can't check it in canon's cameras. chris_adams11
Not sure why my previous post just says link. Its a link to a canon forum with software to check this.
Spearhead
That software, which appears to have been written in 2005, doesn't seem to work on the Mk3, from what I can tell. I get a shutter count of zero. Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal
