They better hurry up and release it already. I don't care if it doesn't have video. If you really want to mate

video with an SLR, just buy a $100 flipcam and mount it to your hotshoe like I did with my Lumix LX2:

Ummm interesting....Nikon and Sony showing up with a 25 MP full frame so close to one another. And the Sony seems that it will hit the market first. I know I am not the first to assume Nikon is buying this sensor from Sony. I guess that really doesn't matter. Many think this is a blow to Canon. While it is the first time the 1Ds will have direct completion, but it would be silly to think folks would jump ship over it. Unless it has really amazing low noise or a built in beer tap.....

If the next Canon full frame (aka 5D mkII) truly has 1 stop less noise than the new 50D, this could really be just what I was hoping for. I think 21MP is too much 75% of the time, however, with the option of sRAW, it will be a very versatile camera indeed.

If this thing delivers what I hope for....I will sell both my 40D and 5D and the 17-55 f2.8 to get it.

>>>"I won't be selling anything, but I certainly will be waiting in line at the store when it flies."<<<

Well I would rather not sell anything, but it looks like the only option if intend to get this before its replacement hits the market. Of course that maybe next June at this rate. I would also imagine I will wait for the price to drop after the first mad rush and stores will be able to keep it in stock for more than an hour.

That is the smarter option of course. Really depends on the MSRP though... if it's over $3,000 i'll be waiting... if it's between $2500 and $3000 i'll probably be there the day it releases.

Canon is smart with all this hype. I just got back from a trip where I used my 40D with my L lenses and I am really happy

with the results and I see no reason to upgrade but all the hype does make it interesting. Maybe next year for me.

Fun time if your moving from a 20D or a rebel or a serious pro looking to upgrade.

I think the folks that this is going to target is not geared to very fast frame rates. Wedding, portrait and event photogs don't really need it. Sport and action photographers often (I know not always) like crop bodies. Also to have a high frame rate on a 21mp full frame camera would call for some massive processor power and mind blowing through put. That would add a lot to the cost of the camera making it less of a option to many of the folks it is meant to appeal to. "You can not have your cake and eat it too", as the saying goes.
