megan_alberding
I am curious to see what types of photo editing programs you guys out there use. Some people have mentioned Photoshope Elements and some have mentioned Lightroom. Other then these two and Photoshop I have not read about any others. I would appreciate any comments. I am looking for something fairly inexpensive, but also something that will allow me to be creative and go beyond basic editing. Thanks.
phoneguy
PS Elements5 for PC, or v4 for mac, has plenty of horsepower at a very low price. Elements is an excellent program to cut your teeth on. When you feel you need more options, the transition to PSCS3, and Lightroom won't be as difficult as it would be, moving from a different program. I used Elements for a couple of years prior to Lightroom, and CS2/

ni_gentry
If you're serious then just go ahead and get Photoshop CS3. Lightroom is also a good start, but just about every professional has Photoshop. If you are unsure or just testing the waters, then get Elements, which is also good. It's about as easy as that.
