D700 Download

Has anyone with a D700 had trouble downloading .NEF photos from the camera into Adobe Bridge CS3? Even with all current updates

Photoshop and Photoshop Raw will not recognize .NEF files. CS3 does recognize the .jpg and .TIFF.

1) This is not a "download" problem

 

2) Have you checked with the Adobe site to see if the D700 NEF has been added to the list of compatible files?

 

3) You will probably need to use Nikon software to open the files until Adobe and others catch up.

Chris... I don't think software developers can come out with an update of their software the same day a new camera goes

on sale. You will have to wait until the new CR is available to see your NEF files. What I don't understand is why your software won't

recognize a

TIFF or JPG file. They are standard files and any software is supposed to be able to identify them no matter what camera you use.

Rene, you read his post to fast. He does read JPEG's and TIFF's.

To answer the question. For the moment you can use ViewNX or Capture NX2 to read the files. Make sure you have the latest updates too.

Camera Raw of CS4 pre release reads them as well but is far away the true colors.

Thanks for all the comments. Both Nikon and Adobe have been unhelpful. NX2 does read all the files, but the camera only

came with a 90 day trial. Hopefully, Adobe will fix the problem shortly.

Chris... You should try NX2. It really is the best software to process NEF files. Rene'

The D700 NEFs can be processed by ACR if you fool the converter into thinking they come from a D3. I've posted a link to more info about how to do that here: http://www.photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00QJ2p
