philippe_grunchec
I'm going to buy a C330: which lenses are best?
jack_welsh
the 55, Super 180 and the 105 ds are very good.
frankfitz
The Super 180 was one of the best lenses I ever had the pleasure of using. It really cannot be beaten for telephoto. The 80mm standard is also very good. Enjoy
richard_crowe4
What do you intend to shoot... I liked the normal angle 80mm for general shots and either the 135mm or 180mm for head and shoulder portraits, depending on the lens to subject distance I had to work with. I am not all that thrilled with the wide lenses on the Mamiya TLR. It was always a little difficult for me to pin down the focus when I used the W/A lenses. IMO, the Mamiya TLR cameras were excellent tools in their time. They were the first reasonably priced medium format camera that allowed interchangeable lenses (first was the C3, then C33 and finally the C330 series). I also liked the TLR style because I an a pretty tall guy. Using the TLR placed the camera a bit lower resulting in more flattering imagery. It did take a bit of planning to shoot weddings using either the 120 (12 exposures) or 220 (24 exposures) film. I needed to often waste the last two or three shots in a roll in order to have a fresh load ready for important shots. reloading the mamiya was certainly not as fast as switchinga CF card. The main reason I switched to Hasselblad equipment was the ability to use preloaded magazines so the camera could be reloaded much more quickly than loading a roll into the Mamiya. I also liked the Hasselblad 150mm lens which I considered the ultimate lens for portraiture.
golden
the best lenses for the c330 IMO is the 80mm black s and the 180 super. all are great, but these 2 in particular stand out from among the rest, good luck
craig_shearman1
It depends on what you shoot. The 80mm is the standard and pretty much essential. On the wide side, definitely go for the 55 since the 65 just isn't very wide at all. For portraits probably the 135. Big weakness in their lens lineup was that they didn't offer a 150. patrick j dempsey
If you are still looking at this post, you might want to check out the thread below this one, there is a link to tests with many of the lenses. I personally think that ALL of the lenses put out good results from what I've seen. It's really not a matter of which is the best as much as what angle do you need and what kind of bokeh do you enjoy. The 80mm f/2.8 black is a really nice lens that is usually just a give-away with bodies.
joshua_cohen
Be aware that the 180mm very often has haze inside the lens. I suspect that this comes from a poor cement that they used in manufacturing them. I like the 180mm a lot, just be sure to get a good one.
ray_nieves2
When I used the C330, I found the 55 to be good, the 80 and 135 very good and the 180 Super excellent. All gave fine results that in most cases match any MF system. But if truth be told, the TLR lenses on the Omegaflex M and Rolleiflexes were better.
