john_gallino
I was shooting a wedding yesterday and my camera fell maybe two feet from off achair. I guess it landed right on the hotshoe area because two things broke. 1) the pop up flash no longer pops up. it makes a clicking sound when you pressthe button to pop it up but the spring must've been knocked out of place. if youlift the flash yourself and let go it just drops. 2) I don't use the pop up flash so that's not really what I care about. A biggerconcern is that the camera wont fire any flash on the hot shoe! If I put mySB800 flash on the hotshoe and turn it on, the camera will focus but neverrelease the shutter. If I turn the flash off or take it off the hot shoe, thenit will take the picture. I was really hoping this could be something I could fix myself with ascrewdriver, tape and paperclips but I think my chances are slim. Any advice? dbcooper
As you've discovered, there's no PC connection on a D70/D70s. If an external flash won't work, it's time to send the body in for repair. Unless you're experienced at this, only bad things can happen by opening the case and fiddling around, in which case the body will still need to go in for repair, but the repair bill will be higher. dweezil
You might want to look out for a nice 2nd hand D70s in good condition or a new camera as the repair cost for this could be higher than the price of a decent second hand D70
