snik75
O Shiva, your pictures are great as always. John Paul, those are lovely shots, give me the itch to see other places! Dave, sorry about your car that stinks. And Adam, that purple flower contrasts beautifully with the blue background. Javier, I like the sailboat shot a lot, would love to see it full size. A neighbor let us into her garden, which was spectacular. Hard to do it justice, but here's an attempt.

abe_hollander
GREAT stuff from everyone, but I think Javier's blood pressure must be artificially low to be able to get that kind of stuff handheld. I mean really: That's not fair.

O Shiva: You're an inspiration!
mcmanamey
Well - I did actually get to enjoy a little bit of Riverfest that Matt didn't get to see. Us girls went to Botanica from 1130-1230 (the city gardens w/ FREE admission on Fri only) for about an hour on Friday. Wish I'd gotten to go back in softer light (6- 8pm). Anyway, I put the better ones up at flickr. These are for Rose

and these little guys are cute. And new since the last time we had a photo shoot in the gardens

loving the stuff this week, guys!! roseberry guitars
Nice stuff gang. Cool shots O Shiva. I like the last one. It's a winner. Nice going Javier. The sailboat is my fave. Maybe a little crop but otherwise well done on a very hard subject. I think the size of your photos is fine. I know we all like to see our photos full size but often the posts are too big and the impact of a very good photo is lost by having to scroll around to see the whole thing. Nice going with the B/W John-Paul. I like it. For me, the Pentax got shelved most of the week and I spent some time with my Zeiss Ikon Contax doing some black and white 35mm. I love those old machines. The only thing the camera does for you is pull the shutter curtain across the film. Their getting so old that sometimes they don't even do that... Anyways here's a shot taken at a gathering of my Martial Arts Family. What a chore getting a bunch of high energy, low attention span Black Belts lined up and then running to my place just in time for my wife to trip the shutter. I'm in there somewhere. Taken with Pentax K10D, 14-45mm and Alien Bees lighting...it was about 8:00pm in the evening.

pbass_wil
Sorry to get technical on a nice pure, esthetic thread, but I have to ask: Guy, Adam, Bob, and Abe, what lenses did you use to get the creamy bokeh in your shots?
jptreen
Mis, yes, that was a flooded road. What an explosion! I am, as ever, in awe of Javier's hands or rock. That's a really nice group shot, Scot. And I do like the fun (bronze?) foxes.
hagar
Wow, what a great set of pictures everyone.. too many to comment on individually this late at night. I have a few from the waterfront and the canal in Scottsdale from today, and I could not resist the posting the ducky from earlier this week at the zoo :-)

Cowboy statues

Shake..shake..shake.... andrewg_ny
O Shiva, all three of those are outstanding, especially #2 and #3--no wonder you were eager to get this going! John-Paul--I like the black frames on your images, will have to consider trying that at some point. Abe, I like 'Elephant Butt' too. I think what we're seeing here is that the latest p-net forum software is forcing remote-hosted images to a max of 700px wide when displayed inline--with the crude browser downsizing causing some ugly jaggies. abe_hollander
The up-close shots were with the Sigma 70-300 APO with the macro switch on. Thanks for noticing the bokeh! I'm kinda psyched about the results as well.
duane_mills
Wow - great photos by all. Haig, the cowboy statues image is amazing. Matthew, the perspective you chose is really neat. personalphotos
Javier that is an odd set of hots. No idea what that guy is up to. Great series this week everyone. personalphotos
I should have mentioned the fountain was a 4 image multi exposure. There are coloured lights below the surface that rotate between white, yellow, red and green. So I just took one exposure of each colour. Damn, with the new upgrades to the site I wish they had put a post editor in place. 'odd set of hots' was supposed to be "shots" of course. hagar
Thanks Duane.. those arizona sunsets can get to be quite spectacular, depending on clouds, or the pollution in the sky.
miserere_mei
I'm happy to see that I was the only one who had a bad week, as everyone's shots are great :-)

Here's my only decent shot, and it seems like I'm continuing the X-ray theme from the week before. It was quite a serendipitous shot as it was cloudy while I was out at lunchtime testing a Tokina 28-70mm f/2.8-4.3 that I'm going to sell. All of a sudden the Sun broke through the clouds for a few seconds and I happened to be under a tree; when I looked up I saw this scene and snapped a shot.

As a side note, Hin has sung the virtues of this lens, and I can understand why; I'm very impressed with it. Maybe I shouldn't sell it and keep it as a walk-around lens. The colours and contrast are great, and you probably can't see it at this size, but the sharpness is impressive on the leaves within the DoF. Anyway, here it is:

K10D + Tokina 28-70mm f/2.8-4.3

abe_hollander
Great shot, mis. I think that lens represents a pretty useful range, IMHO. Too bad it doesn't work in color (a real limiting factor, and one you should include in your description, if you're an honest seller). :-D
miserere_mei
Very funny, Abe :-) Now that *would* be a special lens, an "achromatic" lens. There's an idea for Pentax, seeing as they have a lot of spare time in the New Lens Division.
pbass_wil
Abe,

Yeah, that's some bokeh all right. So when I checked the going price for that Sigma, I flipped! You could pay thousands for the best Leitz and not get better cream than what you're getting.

You know what would turn my crank? Some Tri-X shot with that lens, with some nice visible grain. :^} But I'm guessing the "DX" means it won't work full frame. :^(

Guy, neat to know you got yours with a normal Pentax prime. I have an older manual version of that which I've been neglecting, but now I'm pulling it out.
