yeo_eng
Can someone who had used the above two lenses, please comment of the quality of these two lenses. I have the 2nd generation of this Tamron lens which I bring along on all my trips abroad. This late comer from Canon intrigues me. It came after so many years behind Tamron's 3rd generation of this zoom. Beside having a closer focusing ability, the "outward" specification are the same. So is there a substantial advantage in quality of this Canon lens? Thank you.
howard
i believe the canon lens is available with usm. for that alone, i would get the canon. also, you didn't state the body you have right now, but in the future, if you upgrade to a newer eos body, your tamron lens (or any other 3rd party) might have compatibility problems. it seems that both are consumer level zooms, the image quality shouldn't be too far part. yeo_eng
Dear Howard, Thank you for your response. I do have an EOS RT, EOS 1, and an EOS 30E. So far I have no problem on compatibility with these cameras with my second generation Tamron 28-200. This Tamron is not my regular usage lens. I used it when I go travelling and for that I brought with me an additional lens of EF 20-35 L lens. I find that there is perspective distortion on the edges of the 28mm end of the Tamron. I realise this as inevitable. Other than that, I am quite happy with the lens. Just wondering whether the Canon 28-200 is better than Tamron in this aspect as well in sharpness.
