aaron_chan1
I'm currently using my school's tripod and pan/tilt head for my toyo CX. But I'm getting on a trip and just purchased a 45CF camera. I will use a 90mm and a 150mm lens with it. I targeted to buy the Gitzo GT1530 and the G1277M ballhead since right now they are having $100 rebate promotion. But I'm not sure should I get the G1278M instead since it has the QR. Or should I buy the Manfrotto 625 QR set and put it on top of the G1277M? "Or" is there any other suggestions? Thanks Aaron
stwrtertbsratbs5
I prefer to use a geared head when shooting LF (I do use a ball head for 35mm). Bogen makes a nice inexpensive geared head: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/109828-REG/Bogen_Manfrotto_3275_3275_Mini_Geared_Head.html
stwrtertbsratbs5
Looks like it's been rebranded: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/124665-REG/Bogen_Manfrotto_410_3275_410_Compact_Gear.html
bohdan_pryszlak
I recently started using the Manfrotto 410 with my Tech V and really like it. It is way easier to level and adjust the camera than with a ball head.
pvp
IMO the Manfrotto 410 is the ultimate tripod head for any 4x5 field camera. I'd say, "correct me if I'm wrong," but I'm not... This time, anyway.
rob_strong1
Well, if you're on a budget, you might enjoy the Giottos M7001 as much as I do. It's got a quick release plate and bubble levels. I don't typically position my camera (Tachihara 4x5) at extreme angles or use very long extensions, and I've never felt that this $70 head was inadequate in any way. greg lockrey
I'm starting to hear good things about the Feisol brand ballhead. I know first and that their tripods are first rate. www.reallybigcameras.com or www.feisol.com. Really Big Cameras is in the US and Feisol is in China. Both will give terrific service.
