Who knows a geotagging solution for 1Ds Mark3 - Mac?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

we are producing a new book, travel for 6 month and I need to geotag all my images. The canon

solution is not really an option for this.
I wonder if anyone has found a ok setup to do geotagging with the 1Ds mark 3?

Right now I use a Garmin GPSmap 60 Cx, Bobcat (oh yes, we are working on Macs),

GPSPhotoLinker but with no success. it seems like the timestamps are lost or at least the

photolinker can't link to the images right.
Does anyone has a working solution?

Appreciate your help

Here is another link to look into:

http://oregonstate.edu/~earlyj/gpsphotolinker/

A beta version of GPSPhotoLinker runs on Mac OS X 10.5. For more details, read

about the GPSPhotoLinker Leopard update (Updated 04/10/2008).

Overview

GPSPhotoLinker can be used to save location and GPS position data to a photo.

The latitude and longitude recorded by your GPS unit while you were taking photos

can be linked, and saved, to the photos. GPSPhotoLinker automatically enters the

city, state, and country annotations into the metadata.

This little GPS clips onto your digital camera to tag your photos with latitude and

longitude. How? By synching the clock in the GPS with the timestamp on your

photos, on your PC. Clever, clever, Sony! The included software handles the sync,

and also puts your photos on a little map, tacked on by virtual thumbtacks. Lil'

Hey..

I currently using 1Ds Mark3 couple with WFT-E2 and di-gps receiver.

It works very well. In fact the di-gps receiver is quite sensitive.

One of these days, i'll do a write up on this! What i love abt geotagging is that, once you load it to aperture, with couple of clicks, you would be able to view it on world map!

Hi,

just to follow up...

We used the Garmin GPSmap 60 Cx and GPSPhotoLinker. It worked fine but also added a lot of extra work every evening. We were on the photoshoot for 2 month. We had almost everyday between 10-20 GB of photos and the geo tagging added alot of hours. First we imported the images, did a backup, renamed them, imported the GPS Data. Opened GPSPhotoLinker, imported photos and GPS data and after this was done we imported into Lightroom.

As mentioned, it worked ok - but it is not the final workflow when on the road, just because when you out for 14 hours shooting you don't want to spend another 3 hours at night till the daily routine is done.

Thanks for all your help - will look into the new products now too.
