baris_john
I tried both lenses side by side during last week. Very similar in rendition with the later L resolving a fraction more detail wide open. Samples to follow...<div></div>

dave_s
Baris, tell us more about the test conditions. This is interesting.
peter_daalder
Particularly with regards to your second shot, was it your intention to (once more) confirm <a href="http://www.photo.net/canon-fd-camera-forum/00PQPa"> the bokeh problems</a> of the FD 55/1.2 SSC? egoldste
Remember that there is a lot of individual variation between samples of these lenses, particularly the Apherical which had a lot of hand work in its production...

For my type of use, I find both lenses to be just about equal in character. Opposed to the old FL 58/1.2 which renders visibly different.<div></div>
John Crowe
Yes, the "bokeh" of the L seems to be significantly better in all three images. I have read that the Aspherical is sharper but that does not seem to be the case in these particular images. Focus point is the same for each case? Also from what I have read the sharper a lens is the poorer the "bokeh". I prefer shooting print targets for testing sharpness though.
