zml
Did you install it? Any improvement in AF? Dos it include the joystick functionality for AF point selection?
pete w
Hi Michael. I did install it and the joystick feature to move af points is excellent. As far as auto focus improvements I won't know till tomorrow its too late here for any serious testing. Take Care, Pete
colinsouthern
No problems for me either. They also apparantly include the ability to set 580EX II wireless modes via the 1D3 menu.
j_smith6
Maybe they will put some new functions in EOS 40D. I wish there was a custom function allowing metering from active AF point and they could also repair the problem with magnifying thumbnails. sdemetre
I've updated to 1.2.3 and so far seems like the AF in servo is smoother and more stable in low-light, low-contrast situations. On the other hand, I've been reading in other forums about users who have had to reconfigure their AF microadjustment settings. I verified all my lenses and all existing microadjustment settings are still spot-on. Has anyone else experienced (or not experienced) this problem? zml
OK - I've installed the 1.2.3 and I'm pleasantly surprised: the joystick works just like it does on a 40D now :-))) I'll need to test the AF but it feels faster/snappier (or maybe it is just an illusion, you know, like a freshly washed car drives better...we'll see.) Hope that this is the end of the debacle.
andy_witkowski
I am not really up on the history of Canon firmware updates and all, but I thought I've read that typically Canon doesn't release features in updates....is this a sign of better things to come? steve santikarn
it is well worth the update, the focus point selection is now a lot quicker and easier.
