yongkyu_lee
Hello, I am looking for a tripod plate which makes it possible for the SL66 to tilt fully. I know a genuine Rollei quick release can do it. I have one already, but it is not rigid enough and too fragile. Mine is almost broken. I have heard there was arca swiss plates for SL66, but I can not find a seller who sells one. Would you please give me some advice? I am using a MARKINS ball head. Thanks in advance.
Ed_Ingold
RRS makes plates for nearly any camera (http://www.reallyrightstuff.com). You need a plate with a lip that will keep the camera from rotating. Markins QR plates are a little smaller than Arca/RRS, but the Markins clamp should be compatible. yongkyu_lee
Edward, thank you for letting me know RRS. I looked for plates for Rollei in their site. Though they have almost every plate for every camera except Rollei. Actually they have sections for each camera but there is no rollei section. mskovacs
With the heads I own, I need a much thicker quick release. I too don't think the Rollei quick release is stable enough. I'm thinking about making up some 1/2" thick aluminum plates to give me enough clearance to tilt all the way down. The idea is that it screws into the camera, then the plate is drilled and tapped as well to accept my quick release.
jean-louis llech
I use an Arca Swiss QR plate for Hasselblad. It allows the back tilt without any problem. The reference is 802 221 (55mm x 60mm - 1x1/4" & 1x3/8")
jean-louis llech
Edward, better not to give advices if they are wrong.
Neither RRS nor Markins have a convenient QR plate for the SL66.
And NO lip ! With the lensboard downwards tilt, the lip will be an obstacle to the lens tilt. What a stupid idea...
I use a SL66 and the QR plate. The only one which could be mounted was the Arca 802 222 for Rollei, no more in production.
But now the 802 221 has exactly the same design and dimensions. I have both 222 and 221, and I can't see any difference. And nothing else can be used on a SL66.
