brad_n
Last week I guess I left the impression that I had too many negative thoughts about the Sigma Bigma. Not so! I just didn't believe that it was a good choice for the second of a lens set. I was out capturing birds this weekend and here's a couple examples. All taken with the Sigma 50-500 at f8. ISO 400, 500mm ISO 400, 500mm ISO 560, 420mm
petewelsh
I must admit I have been thinking about getting this lens for the K10d and ist I own .. The photos composition etc are good but I dunno if it is my computer or what but you appear to have lost a lot of definition/detail in feathers and the like.. the first 2 photos have a lot of chromatic aberration which could have been PS'd out.. I get a similar problem at the top end of my sigma 70-300.. I am now considering just getting a straight 500mm but I want to see some results from it first. The photos are great just spoilt by the lack of detail/sharpness.. I'll hold on to my pennies for a bit longer I think regards Pete
azemerov
I agree with Peter, first two pictures are too soft for f8. Also I believe they have focus problem. #1 is backfocused, not sure about #2. Colors are also not vivid. #3 is much better despite obstacles, may be because it was taken at 420mm, not 500mm.
brad_n
All three were manually focused. How do you take CA out with PS?
fliprip69
The third one is a lot sharper but that will happen all the time with a lens maxed out on its high zoom end compaired to being backed off a bit. Nice shots! I just don't know about the clarity of the lens at 500mm
