anna_nielsen
Hi - accidently in a search of Holga cameras i came across the website "Holgamods" a saw this thing. Like so many others i like the Holga look but i decieded that going back to film , getting a scanner and chemicals was to much. I also happen to like Pscs3 :). SO i know that it is poosible to fake the look - not 100 but close. Anyway i saw this thing so my question is. How much of the look can be achived if i attach this thing to my 5D. As i see it i can get the vignette, and the soft blurry look and not more. So what i would miss is the 6x6 crop, a possible light leak, the actual filmlook and...Is it worth getting the Holga digital body cap lens and can some one post some ex. shot with this kind of lens?. Thanks very much in advance. anna

tommyinca
Anna is refering to 60mm Holga lens on a EOS body cap, not pin hole body cap. Here is a not very good sample but it may be able to give you some idea, taken with a 5D.<div></div>
anna_nielsen
Good shot tommy - but i was expecting some vignetting .If this is it - i might as well get/make some actions WITH vignette and light leak or just use my lensbaby adding some vignette in PS. aeaster
I would sure like to live in an old log-cabin, but I don't want one without vinyl siding. Get real people; none of that looks anything like it was made with a Holga.
tommyinca
Holga's 60mm lens cover the 120 film 56mm image circle. With a 35mm format 5D the vignette part of the Holga lens is cropped out. What remains is the center 36mm image and its simple single element poorly corrected plastic meniscus aberration artifact. Lensbaby (version 1) has one single coated glass element, it doesn't look the same. It is hard to duplicate the effect of plastic with computer. Holga lens cap from holgamods is made from a real Holga lens from a real Holga. Since only the Holga lens is used and the body is from a DSLR, you won't get the uneven film pressure plate and possible light leaks from a real Holga. anna_nielsen
Yes youve got a point there Tommy about the the covering and i fully agree about the lensbaby and the uneven film pressure. Looking at your image again cropping it and adding some vignetting could lift it a bit. Thanks for your input. I have to reconsider buying one - but at the same time im asking my self why i would desire such a look . thanks anna
