andrew_hall1
I'm looking for the exact model/size for a modern battery to test an SP II before selling and am not gonna get an adapter. Sorry if you've seen this question before. I did a search and people just keep saying 1.5 V silver oxide/hearing aid/alkaline or whatever is fine, which is not that specific. Thanks in advance! bob_sunley
Well go to your local camera shop and buy the appropriate Wien cell, or do a 10 second google search.
bob_sunley
The google search returns tons of hits and the first link shows a Pentax Spotmatic II battery is a PX400. 5 min of reading shows that the meter is a bridge circuit, so a silver oxide one will work just fine. In other words if the battery fits properly in the compartment it will work, no adapter required.
andrew_hall1
Bob, you answer is exactly like those that turned up in my previous search. I am looking for a modern equivalent and can't just try the batteries on for size at the store.
mendel_leisk
Andrew, I've just wondered into stores in need of batteries, and come out happy. I think the key is to *not* visit a purely retail operation with bubble packed batteries. A knowledgable *watch* repair place, with in-store repair, is the first place that comes to mind. They likely have loose batteries available, and will be knowledgable as to compatibilities between different brands.
dave_s
Andrew, go to this page and scroll down until you get to the paragraph about replacement batteries. don_e
Weincell MRB400, but as mentioned, the bridge circuit permits the use of the silver S400X

bob_sunley
Andrew, a PX400 is the generic size/number of the battery. Different makers use slightly different in house numbering. If I gave you a Mallory number and the store only carried a different brand, you would still have the same problem.
tripanfal
LR44, A76 Ebay Item number: 360021805504 Like Bob said, wander into the pharmacy and get a 1.5v battery that will fit in the hole. I bought a blister pack of ten similar to the link above. The hearing aid batteries only last a month or so, a standard LR44/A76 lasts a lot longer. david_m
PX400 is not the same size as a 625 or LR44/A76, it is quite a bit smaller.
don_e
I use Exell Photo S400PX 1.5 silvers in my SPIIs. They fit.
