michael j hoffman
I photograph almost exclusively at ISO 200. I shoot street scenes, at night with flash and during the day without flash. I have a 10D and like the image quality. Will the 450D provide increased image quality (i.e. resolution/sharpness) because it has a higher pixel count? I want a second DSLR. Should I get the new 450D or another 10D (used) for about half the price from KEH? My budget has to remain under $1000 USD. shambrick007
The 10D is great, but there have been too many advancements in the last four years not to pass on a new 450. I'd go for that.
shambrick007
I meant to say "to pass on" --> get the 450.
geoffs1
Another low-cost option would be to get a refurbished 30D for about $650.
yinkamd
450D is MUCH better than any of them!

geoff_foale
I was in the same position as you, Michael. After looking around at prices, here in the UK, I came to a different conclusion from everybody who as responded so far. If, like me, you like the feel of your 10D, size, balance, ruggedness, easy to read dials, etc, then get a 40D instead. If you want a smaller lighter camera then go for the 450D. If you find a deal with the Canon cashback offer the price difference is very little. I've just ordered a 40D from a reputable supplier, for GBP 520.00 and I understand that similar prices apply in other countries. This is actually cheaper then the 30D from some outlets. If you can, go to a retail outlet where you can compare the two side by side and decide which suits you best. Then shop around for the best deal. mr._b
Get a used 30D. The 450D takes great pictures, but it will feel like a cheap toy compared to what you have now.
