www.ianleake.com
Am I dreaming? I'm sure I can remember seeing an advert recently for an M8 accessory that looks a little bit like a winder, slips into the hotshoe, and allows you to use your right thumb to stabilise the camera. But now I can't find a reference anywhere :-( Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
andyaitken
Not hallucinating. Called "Thumbs Up". Made by Tim Isaac. Works great. Nuff said.
james mitchell dc
I second Andy's recommendation. It's a great accessory and helps in holding the M8--or any other M, and I'm sure any similar-sized rangefinder--with one hand. It looks great on Black Paint Ms especially. Works best in conjunction with a grip of some sort--built-in in Luigi's case or with Tom A.'s Rapidgrip.
james mitchell dc
Here's a LINK to the website, although I know that some shop in the US is selling them.
gary_chao
It is being sold by Popflash in California. I've gotten couple of them and they work wonders. They do come in 2 different sizes. It works great with either the stock Leica grip or with the grips made by photoequip. Good luck!

ron_breeze2
If I'm not mistaken Ian I believe Leica is now selling them from the LFI site under accessories.
jtdnyc
Looks like it might be useful when using the 90 Cron for vertical shots. Anybody tried it that way?
lutz
SNOB, compatible with any Leica M, USD 8.
michael s.
I'm sorry, Lutz, but I'm too much of a snob to consider the "Snob" which, according to my calculations, is *underpriced* by $128.00.
:-)
I just had a look at this RFF thread, where the inventor/designer of the "thumbs up" discussed his ideas at some length, and provided early illustrations.
For someone like me, however, "all thumbs" would be the product more closely matching my skill level. fred_holmquist
Check out the "Sling" at leicagoodies. They've got some innovative and affordable other accessories I find very helpful.
